Billy Kemper perfectly embodies the core values of Town & Country Surf Designs .
He's one of the world's most respected big-wave surfers — but also a complete athlete, an upright, passionate, and committed man who excels when the conditions get serious.

Billy possesses an extraordinary mental strength , typical of those who push their limits every day. His love for his family, combined with his visceral passion for surfing, creates a rare individual, one we are proud to have in our 'ohana (family).

A story that begins in Maui

Billy's relationship with T&C began early on, on his home island of Maui .
His older brother was already surfing for T&C — and Billy, then a kid, was his biggest fan .

Forever etched in his memory: the T&C logo on his brother's board as he tackled Hawaii's heaviest waves. These powerful images eventually graced the pages of numerous magazines.

Billy made a promise to himself: one day, he too would ride for this brand .
Today, it's done and what pride to see it be part of our history.

A strong bond between Billy Kemper & Glenn Pang

When Billy arrived on Oʻahu and his surfing career began to take shape, he naturally connected with Glenn Pang , one of Hawaii's most respected shapers and T&C Surf Designs ' resident shaper since the 1980s.

For Glenn and T&C, the decision was a no-brainer .
The connection came naturally and, over time, the shaper/surfer relationship blossomed, giving birth to a duo that was as complementary as it was formidable .
As Billy synchronized with his boards, his results improved , a testament to the power of this alchemy.

Many of T&C's current models are directly derived from this collaboration.
From small waves to monstrous swells, Billy tested and pushed our designs to their limits , and his feedback was invaluable .

A rebirth after chaos

In 2020, Billy suffered a near-fatal injury in Morocco.
But rather than give up, he came back stronger than ever , mentally unshakeable , even more motivated and deeply grateful for the life and career he has.

Hard to believe, as he already embodied these qualities before.
Today, Billy is more mindful than ever about what he puts in his body, his diet , his rigorous training alongside Kahea Hart , and the equipment he carefully chooses.

Every moment spent away from his family is time he devotes to improving himself — physically, mentally, technically — to achieve all his professional goals .

What's next?

We can't wait to see what the future holds for him .
If only the conditions would become massive enough to relaunch the Big Wave World Tour ... We can already see him bringing home another title - or at least a few great victories on his favorite spots.

But one thing is certain:
Billy will achieve his goals , and we are proud to be part of this journey to success .
