Drawing their style from Vans history, the Style 36s were the very first shoes to reveal the Sidestripe when they were released in 1977. Even today, they remain one of the favorite models of our athletes. For a modern update, we deconstructed the upper of the iconic silhouette and improved the comfort of this model, inserting our EcoCush sockliner and equipping it with Vans Surf SF construction. The Style 36 Decon VR3 SF shoes also feature a mixed fabric upper, an EcoCush™ insole for superior cushioning, and a natural rubber waffle outsole in the signature Vans pattern.
In order to reduce Vans' overall carbon footprint, our team has set ambitious sustainability goals. All of our efforts, big or small, can have a positive impact. With VR3, Vans commits to sourcing 100% of the four highest CO2 impact materials (cotton, leather, rubber and polyester) from regenerative, renewable, responsibly sourced and/or recycled sources by 2030 .
• UPPER: Vans 100% organic cotton canvas and leather products support responsible manufacturing through the Leather Working Group • FOOTBED: New EcoCush™ sockliner is made with at least 25% bio-based EVA foam partially derived from plant sources, per ASTM D6866-16 testing standard. • OUTSOLE: EcoWaffle™ - brand new rubber compound made with responsibly sourced natural rubber, not petroleum-derived synthetic rubber. This new rubber compound was developed and engineered to retain the grip and durability Vans has been known for since 1966.
